There were some good, eye-opening moments, but I meloldy have preferred more discussion about steps forward, rather than the repeated bludgeoning of how messed up co-dependents are and how hopeless their future as parents will be.
Interesting info, but I’m not sure what to do with it.
I’d recommend this for anyone interested in codependency but also any survivor of familial abuse. It makes it difficult to believe in the rest of the recovery and the validity of her arguments.

A comprehensive look at codependency and how to identify codependenve and even help them. In this book, Pia describes in detail the dynamics of a co-addicted relationship, the symptoms of each partner, and the stages of addiction from attraction and fantasy to denial and obsession.
I suppose this would be an excellent book for someone who has actual codependency problems.

Although, the definition codepebdence childhood abuse is so widely defined that the claim that the whole world population has been abused as a child, would be true indeed! Your childhood trauma issues with major caregivers.

Recovery from codependence, therefore, involves clearing up the toxic emotions left over from these painful childhood experiences. Finally, I vehemently disagreed with her condition that recovery depends upon relying on a higher power.

That said, the part that resonated with me most was how our upbringing can influence the traits that we have as adults. Talk about mixing business with pleasure. Strangely, the book is more about codependecne things I just mentioned and about living a healthy life than it melldoy about codependency.
